New facility aiming to open by 2026 in downtown Canton
CANTON, Ohio--The National High School Football Hall of Fame is back for its 3rd Annual Induction Ceremony set for June 14 at the Zimmermann Symphony Center-Umstattd Performing Arts Hall, located on the campus of Canton McKinley Senior High School, with a start time of 6 p.m.
The National High School Football Hall of Fame is dedicated to honoring the legacy of exceptional athletes, coaches, and contributors in high school football.
This year's class consists of 37 inductees, including Earl Campbell, Ray Lewis, Jim Thorpe, Richard Dent, Allen Iverson (football), Steve Atwater, Charlie Batch, and Mike Vick, among others.
Ohio notables include Jim Thorpe (Canton Bulldogs), Percy Snow (Canton Mckinley), Luke Fickell (St. Francis DeSales), Troy Smith (Glenville), Mike Vrabel (Walsh Jesuit, Cuyahoga Falls), Antoine Winfield Sr. (Akron Garfield), Tom Cousineau (Lakewood St. Edward), Bob Sebo (Salem), Andre Smith (John F. Kennedy - Cleveland, Ohio), Virgil Walker 'coach' (East Tech High School).
Prominent former players of the Browns featured on the list are Tim Couch, Hanford Dixon, Eric Metcalf, and Frank Minnifield, among others.
