DALTON, Ohio--Dalton has appointed its third head football coach in as many years, with Reid Geibel being recommended as the next individual to take on this role after a May 12 special board meeting.

Geibel is well-acquainted with Dalton Football, having served as an assistant on Broc Dial's coaching staff from 2017 to 2022, and he has made Dalton his home for the last eight years.

"This is an exciting opportunity" said Geibel. "I've been in this Dalton community now for eight years, six of them in a coaching capacity. I have a sports training business that I will continue to operate. I have trained a lot of these kids from the surrounding areas."

Amidst the rotation of coaches, the Bulldogs have experienced a degree of success over the past few years, reaching the Division VII OHSAA state championship game in 2023, where they were defeated by the state powerhouse, Marion Local under Broc Dial.

Dial stepped down after achieving a 13-2 record and accepted the head coaching job at Tuslaw following his state runner-up year.

Ray Leek assumed the position following the state runner-up season, posting a 10-4 record, before leaving and taking the same position at Wooster High School.

He is set to take over a junior-led class that consists of only five seniors, which means there will be significant expectations placed on the 2026 class as they head into his first season.

"Coach Geibel stood out with his vision for the program and his heartfelt dedication to not only building a successful team, but also shaping well rounded individuals," said Dalton Superintendent Steve Watkins.

Geibel was a standout athlete at Tusky Valley and also a three-year starting quarterback at Heidelberg College. Additionally, he operates Reid's Sports Complex in Orrville and will serve as Strength and Conditioning Coordinator for the school.
