RICHMOND HEIGHTS, Ohio--Following the resignation of the accomplished boys' head basketball coach and athletic director Quentin Rogers, the Spartans are embarking on a new path under the leadership of the newly appointed head boys' basketball coach Melvin Burke Jr.

The school board also appointed former Cleveland Cavalier Daniel 'Booby' Gibson as an associate coach during a June 9 meeting.

Gibson's professional career, all with Cleveland, which lasted seven seasons, had a career average of 7.8 points per game, along with 2.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game, as reported by NBA.com.

He serves as a co-host of Full Court Cleveland alongside Sam Amico and Rafa Hernandez-Brito.

"It has always been my passion to invest in our youth," said Gibson. "Through ShootersU and the DGib Hoops Foundation, I focus on the ABC's - Academics, Basketball, and a Commitment to both. Richmond Heights has a proud tradition, and I'm honored to bring my experience and energy here. When heart meets hustle, greatness follows. I'm ready to build, lead, and to help our student-athletes grow on and off the court.

Richmond Heights has a rich basketball legacy, including multiple recent state championships.

"Daniel Gibson brings more than just professional playing experience - he brings a clear vision for student growth and leadership," said Superintendent Marnisha Brown.
