MAGNOLIA, Ohio - The Sandy Valley Cardinals are hiring Torrance Carle as the next head football coach, pending a Board of Education meeting on Feb 23.

Carle brings 13 years of coaching experience to the Cardinals, recently serving as the Associate Head Coach, Co-Offensive Coordinator, and Special Teams Coordinator at Eastern Alamance High School in North Carolina.

He will succeed Brian Gamble, who was the coach for nine seasons and finished with a record of 51 wins and 44 losses.

Here is the statement from Sandy Valley Local Schools:

Sandy Valley is pleased to announce the appointment of Torrance Carle as the district’s new Head Football Coach pending board approval at the February 23 meeting. A graduate of Minerva High School, Coach Carle brings both a strong local connection and a wealth of coaching experience to the program. He attended the University of Mount Union, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sports Business with a minor in English. Coach Carle has 13 years of coaching experience, most recently serving as Associate Head Coach, Co-Offensive Coordinator, and Special Teams Coordinator at Eastern Alamance in Mebane, North Carolina. During this time, he helped develop multiple All-Conference athletes and implemented leadership programs focused on both athletic and personal growth.

“We are excited to welcome Coach Carle back home to Ohio and into this leadership role,” said Matt Whitted, Sandy Valley Superintendent. “His experience, character, and commitment to student success align perfectly with our district’s values. We are confident he will have a positive impact on our student-athletes, both on and off the field.”

Carle is committed to building a football program rooted in work ethic, accountability, academic success, and pride in Cardinal Football.

Athletic Director Beau Balderson shared his enthusiasm for the hire. “Coach Carle stood out not only for his coaching experience, but for his clear vision of what a successful football program should represent,” Balderson said. “He understands the importance of teamwork and leadership, and we are excited to see his vision for the Sandy Valley Cardinals come to life.”

“I am so excited for the opportunity to join the Sandy Valley Family as the leader of the football program,” said Carle. “I'm looking forward to helping our student-athletes to grow as football players and people. I can't wait to get to know the area and develop strong relationships with the students, staff, and community, while we build the best football program possible.”
