"There's not really words to describe the season, said Uhlenhake. "I'm so proud of these girls and the girls in the locker room."
Central Catholic just never got into its groove as St. Henry played all-around good basketball, like a well-oiled machine.
Central never led after Sarah Belden scored in the opening minutes of the game, as they were tied 2-2.
After that, it was all St. Henry who kept pushing forward, leading the Crusaders with the hard work of Addy Homan, Alexis Buschur, Karlee Buschur, and Olivia Gast. This team was stacked, making it seem like all the substitutes were actually the starters.
After the first quarter, St. Henry led 12-8.
The second quarter was another low-scoring period, with only five points scored for the quarter, because of St. Henry's fast and aggressive defense. Sarah Belden was the standout player for the Crusaders.
Homan scored eight of her 20 points for the game in this period. But it was a team effort for them, taking a 26-13 lead into the half, with the defense holding Central to 4 of 21 shooting from the field.
St. Henry's offense would not quit as Central had no answer defensively for the trio of Homan, Karlee Buschur, and Alexis Buschur.
Down the stretch of the fourth quarter, Central attempted a comeback but fell short as they would score 16 points for the quarter, and both teams would empty their benches, as this game was out of reach for the Crusaders.
"Trusting your teammates, trusting yourself, trusting your coach, everything is going to play out the way it is," said Addy Homan. "Our community is why we won."
