PERRY TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- Perry Local School District has announced that Corey Kaufman will become the next head boys basketball coach, pending BOE approval.
He compiled an overall boys basketball record of 116-49 across his seven seasons (2019-2026) as the head coach at his previous school, Smithville.
Kaufman is highlighted for turning the Smithville program around, which had only won eight games before his arrival, earning multiple Wayne County Athletic League titles, and was named the NE Inland District Coach of the Year.
"We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Coach Kaufman to the Perry family," said Kevin Yoder, Athletic Director. "Corey has a clear vision of the future of Perry basketball."
He will assume the role left by Matt Voll, who guided the Panthers to a state final appearance just a year ago. "The job at Perry is an opportunity for my family and I to help build a program with what Coach Voll was able to get started 3 years ago," said Kaufman.
Coach Kaufman will begin his duties immediately as they prepare for the upcoming season, according to the press release.
