With Goldring’s retirement, the OHSAA has added Andy Bixler as Director of Eligibility and Student Services, and Scott Kaufman as Director of Sport Administration and Operations. They both join the OHSAA after serving at OHSAA member schools for more than 30 years. Their bio information is below.
Goldring joined the staff in October 1995 and held titles including Director of Information Services, Assistant Commissioner, Director of Operations and Director of Communications and Special Projects. Twice during his 31-year career at the OHSAA, he was tasked with serving as Interim Executive Director, including during the summer of 2020 when the OHSAA developed policies and procedures for school sports during the COVID-19 pandemic. While many states did not play in the fall of 2020, Bob’s work with the Ohio Department of Health and the Governor’s Office helped pave the way for Ohio student-athletes to play sports that fall and for the 2020-21 school year.
During the first half of Bob’s career at the OHSAA, he was responsible for media and public relations, publications, and had oversight of the media at state tournaments and of the office webmaster. In that time, he helped enhance the Association’s relationship with the media by providing more and timely information such as news releases, publishing the OHSAA Working With the Media Handbook for athletic administrators and tournament managers, and the OHSAA Public Relations Guide for Coaches.
Beginning with the 2008-09 school year, Goldring served as the OHSAA’s chief liaison with the membership and staff, planned and compiled information for Board of Directors meetings, wrote public address announcements and created timing itineraries for OHSAA state tournaments, produced newsletters for member school administrators, planned various OHSAA statewide meetings, nominated and secured individuals for special national and OHSAA awards, worked with the OHSAA student eligibility appeals process, and oversaw several committees and special projects.
Bob’s previous work was in collegiate sports information offices at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (Terre Haute, Ind.), Purdue University, and as assistant sports information director from May 1990 to September 1995 at Ohio State, where he earned two degrees.
Bixler and Kaufman Join OHSAA Staff
Bixler joins the OHSAA as Director of Eligibility and Student Services after serving as the superintendent of Anna Local Schools in Southwest Ohio for the last 20 years. He was a member of the Southwest District Athletic Board for 22 years and also served two terms on the OHSAA Board of Directors, including being elected President of the Board for the 2016–17 school year and Vice President for the 2024–25 school year. His committee work has included contributions to competitive balance, finance, Division I disparity, and divisional expansion initiatives.
Andy began his career in education as a math teacher and multi-sport coach at Brookville and Preble Shawnee High Schools from 1992 to 1999. He then served as high school principal at Preble Shawnee High School before becoming principal at Anna High School from 2001 to 2006.
Kaufman joins the OHSAA as Director of Sport Administration and Operations after serving as the Athletic Director and Assistant Principal at Lakota West High School in Southwest Ohio since 2013. During his 34 years in education, he also taught, coached, or served as an administrator at Cincinnati Princeton, Cincinnati Seven Hills, and Cincinnati Wyoming.
For 16 years, Scott was a representative on the Southwest District Athletic Board and spent a three-year term on the OHSAA Board of Directors, including as President for the 2021-22 school year. During his years on the board, he served on the OHSAA Competitive Balance Committee, OHSAA Football Site Selection Committee and the OHSAA Technology Committee. He was the Southwest District Division I Tournament Coordinator for volleyball and basketball and, since 2023, was an OHSAA Regional Basketball Coordinator.
