YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — After the Youngstown Liberty self-reported an ineligible player after a playoff game against Canton Central Catholic in the first round, the OHSAA took action, according to WFMJ 21.

Due to the violation, they will lose their 26-16 victory against the Crusaders. Brian Knight, the Superintendent of Youngstown Liberty Schools, released this statement:

"On Saturday afternoon, we identified that an ineligible student may have participated in Friday night's playoff game against Canton Central Catholic. After confirming, we self-reported the situation to the Ohio High School Athletic Association. We respect the Ohio High School Athletic Association's decision and will do everything possible to prevent this type of incident from happening again."

According to Joe Eitel, Canton Central Catholic is set to take on the undefeated Perry Pirates from Lake County in the upcoming round of the OHSAA football playoffs.

An email was sent requesting comments from the OHSAA, but they did not reply before the publication deadline.
