LOUISVILLE, Ohio--The Leopards have appointed Dave Wertz from within their ranks to lead the boys basketball program, allowing him to continue its legacy and make his own mark on 'The Program'.

Wertz possesses extensive expertise, having coached at the lower levels, and is familiar with the young athletes making an impact at the junior varsity and freshman levels.

According to Leopard Nation, the athletic programs website, he guided the junior varsity team to an impressive 15-2 record during the recent championship season.

The players he coached during their freshman year will be seniors as he embarks on his inaugural season as head coach, alongside several returning members from the varsity championship team.

Tom Siegfried directed the program for 18 seasons before deciding to resign in order to support his son, Beau Siegfried, who will be entering his freshman year at Ashland University this fall, and to dedicate more time to his family.

Siegfried remains a history teacher within the district and is involved in the baseball program, ensuring he will not be distant, but doesn't want to miss any of his son's college career, as he mentioned in earlier interviews regarding his decision to step back.

Courtside with Sammy B & Lee was first to break the news of Tom Siegfried's successor.
