COLUMBUS, Ohio--On Monday morning, during a court hearing, Kirk Barton stood before a Judge who approved a bond of $500,000 with stipulations regarding his aggravated vehicular homicide charge, which resulted in the death of 24-year-old Ethan Perry.

According to investigators, Barton was reported to be traveling in the wrong direction on Bridge Street but subsequently corrected his path into the proper lane, ultimately colliding with the vehicle driven by Perry.

Perry's mother was not satisfied with the judge's decision regarding the bond amount, "That's nothing for him," said Roslyn Perry, the mother of Ethan Perry. "All you assessed him was $500,000? That's a slap in our face, but I guess that's the OSU privilege since he's an OSU football star."

One of the judge's stipulations was that he not drive any motor vehicle for the time being as the case progresses.

As of press time, Barton had been released on bond as per court records after posting bail in the amount of $50,085, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for July 1.
