NORTHEAST, Ohio - As mentioned a few weeks ago, eight teams have come together to what we now know as the Northeast Senate League, set to begin competition during the 2028-2029 academic school year.

The new league has eight teams: Carrollton, Claymont, Fairless, Marlington, Minerva, Sandy Valley, Tuslaw, and Tusky Valley.

As stated in the press release from the Superintendent of Carrollton Exempted Village Schools, Dave Davis, this league will bring together eight long-established programs from Carroll, Stark, and Tuscarawas Counties that share deep-rooted athletic traditions, geographic proximity, and decades of competitive history.

"These schools are bound by more than geography," said representatives of the founding superintendents. "We share longstanding rivalries and a commitment to providing competitive, student-centred athletic and scholastic opportunities."

All of the founding members (named above) were once in the old Senate League and have competed against one another for generations.

Additional details regarding league bylaws and scheduling will be announced at a later date.

Also on the agenda is hiring a new commissioner for the newly formed league.

Applicants should at least have 5 years of experience in athletic administration, coaching, or educational leadership.

The job is a part-time contractual position, with compensation based on experience. Interested applicants must submit a resume and letter of interest to Carrollton Exempted Village Schools Superintendent Dave Davis by March 6.

Application materials may be emailed to dave.davis@carrolltonschools.org or mailed to Carrollton Exempted Village School District, 205 Scio Road, Carrollton, Ohio 44615, Attn: Dave Davis.
