Cincinnati high school coach charged with inappropriate conduct with player

CINCINNATI, Ohio - A high school basketball coach is arrested and accused of grooming and engaging in sexual conduct with a 16-year old student and player.

According to Hamilton County court records, Keylan Behanan, 26, is facing two counts of sexual battery and a single count of grooming. 

The alleged incident occurred on Feb. 8, Feb. 18, and 21, while he was employed as a coach at Cincinnati College Preparatory Academy, where he is no longer employed at the school, where he had only been for one year.

Superintendent Guyton Mathews prepared a statement to WCPO: 

This morning, Cincinnati College Preparatory Academy became aware of allegations of inappropriate sexual conduct by a seasonal employee, whose employment has since ended," said Superintendent Guyton Mathews. "The safety and well-being of our students is of paramount importance at CCPA, and our administration is taking all available steps to protect our students and fully cooperate with law enforcement during this investigation process.

The alleged victim stepped forward to disclose an inappropriate relationship with her coach; details regarding to whom she recounted her experience were not immediately accessible. However, the Major Offenders Unit of the Cincinnati Police Department conducted an investigation and established probable cause to arrest Behanan. 

He allegedly admitted to police that he indeed had an improper situation with the alleged victim in or about the bedroom of the 16-year-old's residence on March 1. Additionally, during the investigation, there were text messages and calls that indicated he made references to sex with older men. 

He is currently being held on a $60,000 total secure bond for all three charges at the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.
