TWINSBURG, Ohio - The Twinsburg City School District will have a new leader, Dr. Sandy Womack Jr., who was approved with a 3-2 vote by the school board to become the new Superintendent, according to the press release.

He will begin his new three-year contract on Aug. 1 with an annual salary of $155,000, according to the school board records.

Womack brings 33 years of experience in public education, including roles in Columbus, Akron, Canton, and Cleveland. He assumes the role after former Superintendent Kathryn Powers, who retired this past summer.

Statement prepared by Dr. Sandy Womack Jr.:

I believe we can accomplish more together than we can individually, and when we turn to each other rather than against each other, we can make a significant impact for our students and community. After 33 years in public education, I am honored to have the opportunity to lead a district, and I look forward to getting to know the students, staff, and community and continuing to move the Twinsburg City School District forward.

He recently retired from his role as area superintendent for Region III of Columbus City Schools, where he oversaw 19 schools that serve more than 7,000 students.

In 2021, he reached the finals for the same role in the Akron Public Schools. He also applied for the same position in the Canton City Schools District but was not selected.

Womack completed his studies at Mount Union College in 1992, earning a bachelor's degree in Education. He then obtained a Master's Degree from the University of Akron in 1997, an Ohio Superintendent's license from Kent State University, and finally, his Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Ashland University, after his graduation from Akron Buchtel High School.

He was a standout wrestler in high school and at the University of Mount Union.
