AKRON, Ohio - In their first game at Akron Infocision-Summa Field, Akron Ellet's flag football team used its air attack to defeat Canton GlenOak 32-6.
As GlenOak's offense struggled early in the game, turning the ball over on downs in its first three possessions, Ellet would take advantage.
"Both sides of the ball were on fire," said Dimengo. "A really nice bounce back from last week."
Quarterback Kenadie Keith would find Ja'Niyah Carter early in the first half, first a long bomb that would give them an 8-0 lead after a successful 2-point conversion, then again on a long bomb to go up 14-0 after a failed 2-point conversion.
Speed on offense was key for Ellet, "Using our strength with our faster players, throwing it in front of them and letting them go get it past their defense," said Keith.
GlenOak finally settled down and responded with a quick touchdown from quarterback Hannah Zinn to Zoey Welch, made possible by an interception by S. Reeves; they were still behind 6-14.
Ellet would carry a 14-6 advantage into halftime.

The second half would be all about Ellet's defense, as they secured two interceptions and made strong stops, keeping GlenOak scoreless for the entire half.
Good defense usually turns into good offense, as it did for Ellet, who would put some additional points on the board. Carter would find the endzone on a rushing touchdown for a 20-6 lead (failed 2-point conversion).
The Keith to Carter connection would strike again for a final score of the game, another big bomb right into the endzone. "I trusted Kenadie because it has to have chemistry, and it got to me every time," said Carter.
In their later game, they also defeated Akron Buchtel 40-6.
Games will resume on Sunday, March 29, starting at 11:00 A.M. at Infocision-Summa Field.
