COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio State's head coach, Ryan Day, will have to watch his son from a different sideline this fall. RJ Day has officially committed to Northwestern University in the Big Ten Conference, according to his social media account.

He will be graduating in 2027, and has already broken school passing records as a junior, and was a highly-ranked quarterback prospect in his class.

"Super excited to announce my commitment to further my football and academic career at Northwestern University. Thank you to everyone along my journey who has made this possible, from my family, Brad Maendler, the DeSales coaching staff, and Jay Hooten at the Armory. I am excited for the next step and ready to get to work! Go 'Cats!," -- RJ Day, statement from social media.

Seventeen other schools were interested in his services before he made his college choice, according to 247Sports.

Northwestern finished 7-6 (4-5 in Big Ten play) and also made a bowl appearance in the GameAbove Sports Bowl under head coach David Braun last season.
