His shot preparation and fluid game made him a top choice in the draft, according to NBA analyst Jay Bilas.
"Honestly, I didn't, but my pops always knew. Once I got older, I started to believe it as well. But all of it paid off," said Peterson when asked about being the number two pick in the draft.
Peterson played high school basketball at Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy during his freshman and sophomore years before going to prep school Huntington Prep, and finally finishing his high school career at Prolific Prep in California.
The Utah Jazz finished 22-60 this past season, meaning they have work to do, and Peterson could add that scoring depth they need and finish negotiations with Walker Kessler.
His father had a strong belief and something special about the number twenty-two on his jersey, the number the younger Peterson has been wearing."It means a lot, it was my number. It shows how much he believes and respects me as a dad, and he just embraced it." said Darryl Peterson
