CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio -- The Lutheran East Athletic Department has made the determination to move its boys’ basketball program to OHSAA Division I, starting with the 2026-2027 season.
Head Coach and Lutheran East alumnus Sam Liggins ‘05 says, “We feel that we’ve accomplished what we can at the Division V level and are looking forward to a new challenge and an opportunity to compete against the high-caliber Division I programs throughout our area and our state. We welcome the level of competition we’ll face by making this move, and we think it will be a positive change for our program.”
Athletic Director Anthony Jones echoes Liggins’ statement, saying, “We’re so proud of our boys’ basketball program, and it’s such an integral part of our school community. We’re excited for the challenge and change that this move will bring, and we’re confident we have what it takes.”
