FREMONT, Ohio - According to a press release by Fremont City Schools, they will have to forfeit a Week 1 win over Tiffin Columbian due to an ineligible player.

The school district self-reported the ineligible player to the OHSAA, acknowledging fault for the mishap.
STATEMENT FROM THE SCHOOL DISTRICT:
"Fremont Ross High School recently determined that a student who returned to the district was ineligible to compete during the fall season. This student athlete participated in the opening football game on August 21, 2026, against Tiffin Columbian. Fremont City Schools self-reported this discrepancy to OHSAA, and they have acknowledged the infraction. The football program, school, and district take matters like this very seriously, and we are committed to adhering to the forfeiture consequence. Fremont City Schools is committed to a strong fall athletic season this year."
As for the student-athlete who returned to the Little Giants will remain enrolled at the high school but will not be eligible to play for the remainder of the season.

The report did not disclose the name of the student who committed the infraction or their grade level.
