CANTON, Ohio - The WFA National Championship weekend represents the pinnacle event for professional women's tackle football.

The Salt Lake Wildcats, a newly established program, triumph in the Division II National Championship against the Baltimore Nighthawks 19-0.

Following the exchange of possessions from the first half to the first quarter, the game shifted dramatically after Laura Goetz made an interception with 6:24 remaining. This moment energized the team and resulted in a late score in the first quarter, as she also took on the role of starting quarterback, walking off a 2-yard rushing touchdown with 1:03 left in the quarter, bringing the score to 6-0 after a missed PAT.

Baltimore struggles to put together drives, resulting in several possessions ending in turnovers on downs. This allowed Salt Lake to establish a two-touchdown advantage as they concluded the first half with a 9-yard rush by Sam Gordon, followed by a second interception by Laura Goetz, closing out at 13-0.

Opening the second half, it would be a battle with both defenses presenting problems, with Baltimore's Jasmin Ward locking down the receiver, not allowing a catch in the quarter. Neither team would score during this period of the game.

Again, as both teams would struggle to put drives together, Salt Lake's defense would make another big play with Victoria Archuleta picking a pass off Lauren Vetok to set up the game's final and deciding score, a Goetz 6-yard run with 1:13 left in the game to go up 19-0 and capture the WFA Division II National Championship.

The Wildcat program is a first-year and family affair, as player Laura is the daughter of head coach Shawn and the sister of wide receivers and special teams coach Adam Goetz, as Laura is also the owner of the team, according to her Instagram account.
