ALLIANCE, Ohio -- Jeremiah Thomas, a former standout for the West Branch Warriors, has declared via his social media that he is permanently stepping away from football.

He had most recently committed to play for Mount Union in Alliance, Ohio.

This is his official statement:

"After thinking long and hard, I've decided to step away from football at the University of Mount Union. This is not a decision made easily. Football has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember, so walking away is something that means a lot to me. I'm incredibly thankful to Mount Union for giving me the opportunity to play at the next level and for everyone who supported me along the way. I'm thankful for the coaches who believed in me. My teammates who became brothers, and all the memories I was able to make throughout my High School career. Even though I will never step on a football field as a player ever again, I'll always be grateful for what football has given me and for the person it helped me become."

Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this journey. I'll always appreciate it. -- Jeremiah Thomas

Thomas was among the most successful players to wear the green and white in the history of the program. He earned First-Team All-Ohio honors twice, once as a quarterback and once as a wide receiver, and he was also recognized as the Northeast Inland District Offensive Player of the Year on two occasions.

He departed from West Branch after setting a record of 241 yards in one game, while also tying the program records for 15 receptions and four receiving touchdowns in a single game.

He wasn't listed on the Mount Union football roster, which won't be official until September 2026.
