COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The running back room at Ohio State is getting a clearer look as the preseason progresses.
Bo Jackson, a former standout at Cleveland Villa-Angela St. Joseph High School, is getting attention for himself this preseason. He aims to reclaim his starting position, as reported by Eleven Warriors.
To make things even clearer, Ryan Day gave his approval of how he is progressing as of now: "He had a very good start to camp and has certainly stood out," said Day.
He was one of the most productive running backs last season, finishing the year with 179 carries for 1,090 yards and six touchdowns, adding 19 catches for 200 yards and one touchdown.
"The first thing is his reads, and the way he's hitting the hole has really shown up," said Day during the press conference. "I think he is doing a much better job at the second level."

After missing the spring with a shoulder injury, Jackson stated last week that he is completely healthy and "excited" to engage in Arthur Smith's offense, which he characterized as a "run-heavy offense," according to Eleven Warriors.
Running back room
At the running back position, the Buckeyes are well-equipped, with two freshmen, one being the highly sought-after Legend Bey, three sophomores, and the single junior, Stanley Jackson Jr., plus senior Ja'Kobi Jackson, who is in his fifth year.
Isaiah West is also high on the list after what Day says was a "tremendous offseason".
Jackson stated, when asked what he wants to improve, "Just everything," he said. "Getting bigger, faster, stronger on the field. Everything."
According to the most recent comments from Day, Bo Jackson appears to be in the lead to reclaim his position as the starter, despite the season being just a few weeks away.
He was named to the preseason watchlist for the Maxwell Award alongside quarterback Julian Sayin and wide receiver Jeremiah Smith.
The Buckeyes open up the season on Saturday, September 5, hosting Ball State at Ohio Stadium.
