BARBERTON, Ohio - Akron Public Schools product Payton Taylor has been approved by the Barberton BOE to become the next head football coach.
As stated in the athletic department press release, Taylor completed his high school career at Buchtel High School under the guidance of then-coach Ricky Powers, where he served as the quarterback, before leaving for Kent State University, where he participated in only two games.
His coaching career began as a graduate assistant for Kent State University from 2020 to 2022, where he found success as their quarterbacks coach, coaching the likes of Dustin Crum, who was the MAC POY in 2021.
