Girls' shine during 2025 Midwest Live at Cedar Point

SANDUSKY, Ohio--Midwest Live 2025 was more than the eye could handle as girls' school teams from classes 2026, 2027, and 2028 competed in the annual summer event over two days in front of top college coaches and local media.

A total of 105 teams participated at the Cedar Point Sports Complex, which featured 10 full-sized courts to accommodate the substantial number of participants.

Furthermore, this year's event featured a total of 208 games, attended by 107 college coaches representing 65 different colleges.

This event is organized by the Ohio High School Basketball Coaches Association in collaboration with the OHSAA, which means that these teams are comprised of school-rostered players.

There were plenty of all-stars and up-and-coming players who had the advantage of showing their skills and talent to the scouts in attendance.

Milee Smith of Unioto (Class of 2026), Mya Kienath of Shelby (Class of 2027), Maddie Lepley of Massillon Jackson (Class of 2026), Strawberry Blankumsee of Winton Woods (Class of 2028), Delaney Pierce of Massillon Washington (Class of 2028), Sydney Ferguson of Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary (Class of 2028), among others that were on hand. 

Basketball season is less than six months away, but these teams took their talents to Cedar Point.

What the players said

"We want to make it as far as we did last or maybe even farther, that's the goal," said Lepley of Massillon Jackson.

"Hopefully make a state run, be able to go to state, that would be pretty cool, I say we gotta keep our heads high and take it one game at a time," said Milee Smith of Unioto.

Boys' 2025 Midwest Live

The summer season of Midwest Live will come to a conclusion with the boys competing from June 27 to June 29, as a larger crowd is anticipated.

"This place will have three times the people during the boys' event," said Adam Hall, OHSBCA Public Relations Director.
