As reported by various social media platforms, Dorian Jones has chosen to take an alternative route prior to his enrollment at Ohio State as the summer term commences.

He has chosen to take a gap year and enroll in junior college due to reported academic challenges that hinder his ability to register, as reported by Steve Helwagen of 247Sports.

I wanna start off an [sic] I want to thank my Ohio State basketball family and Coach Diebler for their support," Jones wrote. "As I reflect on my development, this next year is an opportunity for me to grow more prior to college. I won't be enrolling at Ohio State this year but I look forward to continuing our relationship.

Jones, a guard standing  6-foot-4 inches tall, has helped Richmond Heights to three consecutive OHSAA state titles and is recognized as a top 100 player by position in the nation.

Ohio State will proceed for the time being, having secured players through the transfer portal along with the freshman commitment A'Mare Bynum, who is expected to have an immediate impact right from the start.

Devin Royal (Pickerington Central) and Gabe Cupps (Centerville), a University of Indiana transfer, and Colin White (Ottawa-Glandorf) remain on the roster despite several departures following the conclusion of this past season.
