COLUMBUS, Ohio - RJ Day, son of the Ohio State University head football coach, Ryan Day, is making a name for himself with his play.
In a 33-29 win over Ashland on Friday night in the OHSAA Division II Region 7 quarterfinal playoff game, he officially set the record.
As stated by Tom Neubert, the Athletic Director of St. Francis DeSales, it has been confirmed that he officially established the record with 482 yards passing and contributed three touchdowns.
The touchdown pass that led to the victory was completed with 11 seconds remaining in regulation, following a 90-yard drive that took place in the last two minutes. Day delivered a 4-yard pass to tight end Jordan Korhoff with just 5 seconds left on the timer.

Day also set another school record just a week before by passing Jimmy Vahalik's record of 1,908 yards in a season set in 2006.
He also has multiple offers listed according to 247Sports, none of which are from his dad's program, Ohio State. During a game in week three of this year's regular season against Columbus Africentric Early College, he put up some good numbers, going 16 of 19 passing for 275 yards and throwing five touchdowns in a 35-18 victory, in a game that Ohsfbmedia.com covered on Sept. 5.
The Stallions are scheduled to compete against the Massillon Washington Tigers (8-3) on Friday, November 14, following Massillon's victory over North Canton Hoover Vikings with a score of 62-7.
