CANTON, Ohio - The first day of the OHSBCA Shot Clock Shootout was as advertised. Five games that left you on your seat, while playing with a 35-second shot clock, presented by BigTime Sports.

Game 2

Northwest Indians  49  Canton McKinley 41 (Girls)

Alivia Greenfield excelled as a sharpshooter from beyond the 3-point line in this game, scoring a total of 18 points to aid in the victory. The game began quite evenly, with the Indians successfully preventing Bulldog star Mya Taylor from scoring in the first half by double-teaming her.

"Umm, yeah, I know a lot of people always tell me to keep shooting and stuff, and I was just really feeling it, and I'm finally glad that I got my three's to go in tonight," said Greenfield.

By the second half, they established a lead, and McKinley managed to narrow the gap to six points; however, they were unable to capitalize on the late third-quarter momentum led by K'lynn Carter, who ended the game with 15 points.

Ashlyn Lazarus from Northwest proved to be a dominant presence inside, finishing with 10 points. With this win, they improved their overall record to 8-1 and 4-0 in conference play, as they prepare to host Mogadore next.

Game 3

Olentangy 58  North Canton Hoover 55  (Boys)

This game was exciting from start to the end as Olentangy managed to pull away a gritty win over the Vikings on a buzzer-beater three by Ty Walburn, who finished the game with 15 points.

"We drew up a play to get one of our best shooters open, they guarded it well, so I mean it's one of the moments you dream about, scramble shot, get the guy in the air and bank one in," said Walburn.

North Canton never fell behind by more than 10 points during the game, and that was only at the end of the first half. They managed to keep it close enough for Hunter Hershberger to set up and score a layup, bringing them within two points at 55-53. On Olentangy's next possession, they turned the ball over due to a traveling violation with 42.7 seconds remaining in regulation.

Hershberger scored another two-pointer, tying the game at 55-55 with just 16.7 seconds left. That was all the time Walburn needed; he got the ball, took a couple of dribbles to the 3-point line, faked out the defender Cameron Oleski, and hit the shot off the backboard to win.

Olentangy improved to 7-0 and 3-0 in conference play, setting up a matchup with Norwin, a school out of Pennsylvania. Hershberger finished with 22 points for the Vikings.

Game 4

Massillon Tigers 108  Elyria 83  (Boys)

Massillon never took its foot off the gas in this one, leading the whole game by playing fast and above the rim. The closest Elyria would come was at the end of the first half, playing only down by six, trailing 47-53.

However, the Tigers, led by Josh Hose, completely took control in every part of the game. Xavier Williams stood out as the top scorer for the Tigers, racking up 25 points as he scored from all areas of the court. Gorgio Jackson Jr. contributed with four dunks during the game, as they kept pushing and breaking through all night, resulting in easy scoring opportunities.

To put up over 100 points in a shot clock game is insane, to say the least. "We move the ball really fast, transition, and we move the ball around, everybody was eating, we were playing defense, it's just everything was going our way. It felt shooting-wise we were getting to the basket, fouls everything," said Lamp.

The team scored multiple players in double figures and utilized the bench late in the game. Massillon improves to 4-1 on the season and will face Austintown-Fitch next.

In other action, not reported by Ohsfbmedia.com, the West Branch girls pulled out a win against Shelby with a score of 60-41. Additionally, in the later game, the Maysville boys defeated Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary with a score of 74-66.
